Game Selection of the Month: World Soccer Winning Eleven 9 International

Even though I've never been considered a sports fan, especially when it comes to video games, I can't help but recommend this one, if only because I too have been bitten by the World Cup bug.

The bulk of the improvements here lie between the kickoff and the whistle. While many other games give you the options to kick, pass or shoot, WSWE9 gives you sidestepping, intercepting, much improved side tackling and, of course, the all-important XBox Live options.

To match the nearly-obscene amount of control you have over players, WSWE 9 has added a few new licenses to their list, including Dutch, Italian, and Spanish teams, bringing the total team-count past the 140 mark.

Live play is another area where this game truly shines. It's got an ingenious league system consisting of five divisions, a random vs. function, and a slew of other options guaranteed to get your game on. All in all, even if you're skipping the online option, there's plenty here to make it pretty much impossible not to recommend this game.
