Book Selection of the Month: On a Pale Horse by Piers Anthony

Summer's here, so it's time for something a little lighter; something fun that matches your swimming trunks. Enter On a Pale Horse, the first in a series (admittedly), but easily a fine read on its own.

In one of the more unexpected premises I've seen in fantasy, you follow a new initiate into the ranks of the immortals (also includes Fate, Time, Mother Nature, War, Satan and, to some extent, God) as he learns his new trade, settles into his new digs in purgatory, and does his very best to foil evil's latest plot against mankind.

Inventive and entertaining, Peirs Anthony takes you to the afterlife as none other than the guy that brings you there. With one foot securely planted in fantasy, and the other toeing back and forth between philosophy and comedy, this book is an easy read with plenty of appeal for readers of all walks of life.
