All Wiik and New Consoles Make Go Somethin Somethin.

Suffice it to say, it's been a busy week in DVDBO-land. The run up to the launch of 2 new consoles, a whole slew of new features, the introduction of Toshiba's new lineup of HD-DVD players. Yup. It's been a busy one, I'll tell ya!

First off, the question of the moment is "Whuzzup with the PS3?". Short answer: we don't know. I'm sure most of you cats have heard about Sony's recent crackdown on overseas shipping for their new console, which has caused quite the headache on the part of other retailers like ourselves. Our solution is to keep it buttoned up until we receive official word from Sony as to what the rules shall be. Compounding the problem is the fact that the Japanese megacorp has been mercilessly tight-lipped on the topic.

In other news, Nintendo launched its Wii this weekend. Of course, you already knew that (unless you've been living under a rock somewhere, at least). Thankfully, supply on this one is much better, with Nintendo spokespeople boasting an expected 4 million units to be shipped out by January. Will that happen? We hope so. While we didn't see near the numbers we were hoping for launch day, we are optimistic that we'll be able to get most of our preorders filled within the coming weeks. Does that mean you should be lining up at your local Electronics Emporium in hopes of picking one up sooner? Not necessarily. Supply in brick and mortor shops appears to be lower than ours, which has lead a number of customers back to Good Ol' DVDBoxOffice to get their Wii the easy way: no lineups, no contending with traffic, no smug faced chaps in polo shirts telling you and your fellow shoppers for the zillionth time that the store is out of stock and no they don't know when there will be more available.

And capping things off, we added a new affiliate program to our roster, allowing people to make money from us for a change, just by hosting a DVDBO banner on their web site. For more information on this, take a look here.

As orders for Wii Systems are being filled on a first-come/first-served basis, would you be able to indicate a rough date for the placement of preorders that DVDBO have fulfilled? For example, have preorders made in the 4th week of October been fulfilled?, or have preorders made in the 1st week of November been fulfilled?, etc...

I ask this so that those who have preordered Wii Systems can get a rough indication on how long it will be till their Wii arrives.

At this time, it's hard to say. We're continuing to fill Wii orders to this very minute, even as more are ordered from us. Because of that, the numbers that I can see are always changing...
I can report though, that as of our last shipment we're about a third of the way through our preorders, and we're expecting another shipment shortly.

Sorry I can't be more specific than that. If it makes you feel any better, I won't be getting my Wii until all the preorders are filled, so I'm all for everybody getting theirs as soon as possible so I can get my Wii on too. ;)

Cheers,
Stacey

my DVDBO Wii + Zelda preorder status has read "Order will be processed shortly" for a couple of days now.

Does that mean the items are in stock and waiting to be sent, or should I expect to be waiting a while longer?

FWIW, my pre-order was placed on 27th October.

Mine says the same thing and I only preordered 2 weeks before the release, so I think we're both in for a bit of a wait yet. *sigh*

>>As orders for Wii Systems are being filled on a first-come/first-served basis<<

They're not. They're being sent out in a different (random?) order.

You just need to read a couple of gaming forums (ntsc-uk and avforums) to find out that people who ordered on day 1 from DVDBO have not received their Wii, while people who ordered days afterwards HAVE.

Bit of a poor way to handle pre-orders in my opinion.

Why wouldn't they take it in same order as the preorder comes in?

My preorder was placed 6th october and it haven't been shipped yet.

Can you post how many preorders have been filled after every shipment? As of your second shipment how many Wiis have you shipped?

Unfortunately, I don't have access to this information. I am, after all, but a lowly web person, so most of what I see is inventory based: basically the same stuff you guys see, but in a different interface with a few little bits of candy for marketting purposes.

If you're concerned about where you are in the queue, how may we've shipped out and whatnot, I would suggest contacting our customer service guys and asking them. They'll have access to your order information and shipping levels and all that, so hopefully they'd be able to better answer your questions.

Cheers

Is it really possible that some orders from October have been sent allready ? I ordered September 21st, one day after ordering was availble; and now I'm reading that some orders dated October may have been sent ? Thanks.

Is it true that you filled 1/3 of preorders? and do you think you'll get more wiis than you did on launch this week? Whats the estimate for all of the preorders to be filled? After this week when will be your next shipment?

I Ordered mine same day the preorder was announced 20 Sept, and am still awaiting dispatch.

Very disapointed if later orders have been sent prior to mine. I can't imagine that 1/3 of their pre-orders were placed before mine.

could we please get an update over the system availability? This is starting to get pretty pathetic not knowing when our orders are approx. going to get shipped, let alone where we stand.
Not even a single update sent to us since the Wii was launched.

We continue to receive stock every week and as soon as we get them, they are shipped out. So the only update available at this time is that we're still doing the same thing we've been doing since lauch day-- shipping out everything we're getting as soon as we get it.

As I mentioned before, the only way you can get more specific information in regards to YOUR order is to contact our customer service representatives.

I contacted customer service a couple of times and have received no clearer answers than here. Surely by now you've been able to fill all of day-one's preorders, if you've filled around 1/3 of orders. little bit disappointed. Did you have a limit on order quantities, or were the bulk of the pre-orders placed by a handful of people ordering 100 units each?

I contacted customer-service, and they told me that more systems would arrive "hopefully soon".

Do you have any updates on the stock of Wii systems? Have you at least got through all of the pre-orders? I ordered one recently, and I'm wondering when it will be shipped.

Good luck. I ordered mine during the first week of October and am still no closer to getting it.
Any attempts to contact CSR has left me with vague statements that fail to answer the questions I ask adequately.
It's disappointing that we are not being informed of where we stand in our preorders, and that they are still accepting orders when they are backlogged so far. (Not even a (strong) disclaimer is posted on their site to people putting their orders in presently.)
